Personal protective equipment protects against debris, chemicals, noise, sun exposure, and injuries during lawn care tasks. Here are a few things I wear:
Eyewear
I wear safety glasses when using my string trimmer or edger. The brand I wear is Husqvarna.
Earwear
I wear hearing protection from Harbor Freight. They are only $3.99 so I have 2 or 3 pairs. They do the trick.
Gloves
When spraying chemicals, I wear nitrile gloves. Generally around 4 or 6 mil thickness, but I also have thicker ones on hand if I’m spraying something nasty.
Hat:
The sun is no joke. Outdoor Research Seattle Sombrero is what I use to cover my face from sun damage.
Footwear
For shoes I like composite toe sneakers as they are lightweight and protect toes. I wear the brand Maven. When spraying, I wear rubber boots.
Pants and shirt
I usually wear jeans if I’m spraying, and a long sleeve. You’ll often see me wearing Syngenta or Husqvarna long sleeves but any brand will do. Something light is nice.
